The Gold line provides service from Pasadena to Union Station in downtown LA, where you have a variety of transit options including Amtrak, Metrolink, and the Metro Red line.

The closest Gold Line stations to Caltech are Fillmore, Allen, Lake, and Del Mar, which are all about one mile from campus. Indoor bicycle parking is available at the Del Mar Gold Line station.
Night Routes: The best bus route to take between Caltech and the Gold Line on weekend nights is Metro 485 southbound from the Lake station. Metro 485 runs until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. At your request, Metro buses will stop at any safe intersection along the route between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Allen stations to Caltech in under 6 minutes!
Moreover, the ARTS 10 runs frequently, every 15
minutes.
Beginning Feb 13th 2006, the Del Mar station will be serviced during rush hour by the new Limited Stop Gold Line trains. From the Del Mar station, take the ARTS 10 east from Green/Raymond to Caltech. ARTS 51/52 has limited service from Del Mar to JPL. From the Allen station, take the ARTS 10 west from Allen/Corson to Caltech. You can also use Metro 177 to commute to Caltech or JPL from the Del Mar or Allen stations.
